Katie Sanderson is a practising enamel artist living in the Forest of Dean. After first being introduced to enamelling through her mum, it soon became something she loved and still finds incredibly satisfying. Every time a piece goes in the kiln she knows that once it's out and cooling there will be a different result every time.
Katie's inspirations are broad. She often picks up leaves, stones and other fallen items on her walks in the forest or photographs trees and flowers for their colours and textures. She is always on the lookout for anything that provides inspiration for a new combination of colour and texture.
Katie uses many of the different enamelling methods but in this workshop the focus will be on enamelling using opaque and transparent enamels on copper.
Enamelling can be incredibly unpredictable yet also an art form that with time and experience you can learn its patterns, its tricks, how temperatures play a huge part, how depths of enamel change the outcome, how one method can interact with another.
All our workshops have been developed to provide a quiet day of creativity and gentle tuition and with this class you can really relax, and may be surprised at how immersed you can get in this art form.
This class is suitable for complete beginners or those who have dabbled and would like to further their experience.
During the day we aim for you to complete several pieces these may be enamel jewellery or small pictures. With step-by-step guidance and tuition Katie will demonstrate each stage as you progress, and offer one-to-one guidance wCourse Highlights
