Felting is an ancient art form where layers of wool fibres are worked together using barbed needles.

Our workshops have been developed to provide a quiet day of creativity and gentle tuition and this is a great workshop to introduce you to the art of needle felting. Suitable for either beginners, or those who want to improve their skills.

The session will start with an explanation about the different types of fleece and fibre and the origins of the ancient art of felt making. You will be given a demonstration and guided through basic needle felting techniques to create a background for your picture. You will learn to build up layers to produce texture and contours.

After lunch you will be shown how to add more detail and features to your picture. Let your imagination run wild and create some truly unique artwork.

A range of fabric, beads, buttons and speciality fibres will be available for you to use to enhance your pictures throughout the day.

By the end of the day you will have a beautifully unique picture to take home along with the skills and knowledge to enable you to do more needle felting.
