Deb Hather is an established teddy bear restorer with over 30 years experience. Her business evolved from a love of antiques, natural fabrics and hand sewing and we are extremely lucky that she is not only based at Strelley Hall but will be passing on some of her extensive experience during this workshop.
So if you have ever been fascinated by The Repair Shop on the TV or would like to be a restorer, this is the course for you !!
Our workshops have been developed to provide a quiet day of creativity and gentle tuition and we hope the feeling of going home with a desire to learn more. This particular full day workshop has been developed as an introduction to bear restoration and will cover how to de-construct and then re-construct a traditional style teddy bear.
Beginners are always welcome and no experience necessary to enable you to enjoy the class.
For the first part of the workshop Deb will teach about some of the history of the teddy bear and invite class members to talk about their own bears. She will then explain about different fabrics, tools, parts and fillings, which are all used in restoration.
You will be provided with a vintage teddy bear to work on during the class and learn how to take it apart and then reassemble. All the work will be done by hand using the tools provided so please ensure that you have an acceptable level of dexterity in your hands before booking
The course focus is always on fun and friendly creativity with lots of personal tuition from an experienced teddy restorer.
