Rug hooking is both an art and a craft where rugs are made by pulling loops of yarn or fabric through a stiff woven base such as burlap, linen, or rug warp. The loops are pulled through the backing material by using a crochet-type hook mounted in a handle (usually wood) for leverage.

In this workshop you will learn the technique of rug hooking and the various methods used in creating these rugs.

After practising on a piece of hessian, you will then draw a design on a small hessian bag which you can take away at the end of the day to finish at your leisure.

Equipment, hessian, scissors and scrap fabric will all be supplied on the day but if you have any scraps of your own which may have some significance that you would

like to incorporate into your design, please bring them along.
