Silver clay is an amazing medium to work with, incorporating recycled silver in a binder with water, the clay can be rolled out, textured and cut to shape. When fired, the binder and water are removed to leave fine silver.
On this nature inspired workshop you will learn how to handle and roll out the clay, add texture and shape your designs. How to make a mould to capture a small leaf, flower, buds or sea shell to create a pendant, charm or drop earrings.
You'll ‘torch fire’ your piece and experience the alchemy of silver clay, watching the piece turn from clay into silver. After firing, your pieces will be polished and the finishing touches applied, ready for you to take home your beautiful jewellery.
The class is suitable for complete beginners to silver clay and will cover the basics of this exciting process, so why not take a break from the week and have fun working with this magical clay and then enjoy wearing your own fine silver designs.
All our workshops have been developed to provide a quiet day of creativity and gentle tuition. You will thoroughly enjoy this workshop in silver clay and be surprised by the results you can achieve.

Additional Notes:
We'll be using butane torches during the class so we would request that you bring along something to tie long hair back (where appropriate) and avoid wearing floaty clothes (again..... where appropriate!). Jo will bring some moulds and items to make casts from but we would also request that if you can, you bring along leaves, small flowers or any nature inspired items to create a mold, from which we will be casting the fine silver. The pendant will be about the size of a 10p, but this doesn't mean that the item you bring with you needs to be small as we can use a section of it, but it does need to be fairly flat and texture is important, as this will provide the best results
